FS Poster Overview

Using FS Poster

Here’s a practical walkthrough on how to use FS Poster to schedule posts and set up auto-posting. Follow it top-to-bottom the first time, then come back to the knowledge-base as a quick reference guide.

What FS Poster lets you do (quick snapshot)

  • Connect multiple social profiles/pages (e.g., Facebook Pages, Instagram Business, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, etc.).

  • Auto-post new WordPress content to selected accounts the moment you publish (or when scheduled in WordPress).

  • Manually share any existing post/page/CPT to one or many accounts at once.

  • Build reusable posting schedules/queues for hands-off drip posting.

  • Customize messages per network, add images/videos, and append UTM tags.

  • See a calendar/queue of what’s coming, plus logs of what was sent.

Note: Network availability & per-network limits can change; the exact list you see may vary by version and account type.

One-time prep (before scheduling or auto-posting)

  1. Open FS Poster in WP Admin
    WordPress Dashboard → FS Poster.

  2. Add your social accounts
    FS Poster → Accounts → choose a network → Add account/Page → complete auth.

    • For Facebook/Instagram Business: connect via your Facebook Business assets.

    • For each network, pick the Pages/Profiles you’ll post to and save.

  3. (Optional) Configure link tracking & shortening
FS Poster → SettingsUTM (add campaign parameters), and Shorteners (e.g., Bitly).

    • Typical UTM set: utm_source={network}&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=blog-launch.

That’s it for prep. Now let's move on to workflow options.

A) Set up Auto-Posting for new content (hands-off)

Auto-posting publishes to your social accounts when you publish or schedule a WordPress post/page/CPT.

  1. Enable auto-posting

    • FS Poster → SettingsAuto-Post (or similarly named tab).

    • Toggle Enable Auto Posting.

  2. Choose what to auto-post

    • Select Post Types (e.g., Posts, Pages, Products, custom types).

    • If offered, pick Taxonomy filters (e.g., only Category = “Blog”).

  3. Select default social accounts

    • FS Poster → Accounts: mark which profiles/pages are default for auto-post.

    • You can override per post later.

  4. Craft your default message template

    • FS Poster → SettingsPosting Formats (names vary).

    • Use tokens/placeholders the plugin supports (examples):

      • {title} – post title

      • {excerpt} – post excerpt

      • {link} or {shortlink} – permalink (optionally shortened)

      • {terms} – categories/tags

    • Example default:

      {title} {excerpt} Read more: {shortlink}
    • Some networks prefer the link in its own line; adjust per network if FS Poster allows per-network templates.

  5. Decide image/video behavior

    • Choose Featured Image vs First image in content or Custom; some networks need an image for best reach.

    • For Instagram Business, set image first, and keep captions under the network’s limits.

  6. Attach UTMs & short links

    • Make sure your earlier UTM/shortener settings are enabled for auto-post.

  7. Test with a draft

    • Create a new post → on the post editor screen, find the FS Poster meta box/panel.

    • Confirm the selected accounts, tweak the message if needed, and Publish (or schedule).

    • When the post goes live (or at its scheduled time), FS Poster pushes to your selected accounts automatically.

Daily use tips

  • On each post, you can toggle networks on/off, edit per-network text, or disable auto-post for that item.

  • If you schedule the WordPress post for the future, FS Poster posts to socials at that future time.

B) Schedule posts via Queues/Schedules (drip posting)

Use this when you want ongoing, timed social posts—either from your existing content library or custom text/links you add.

  1. Create a schedule/queue

    • FS Poster → Schedules/Queue (names vary by version) → Add New Schedule.

    • Set:

      • Time window(s) (e.g., 9am–6pm),

      • Days of week,

      • Posting interval (e.g., every 4 hours) or specific send-times,

      • Timezone (match your site/business time),

      • Max daily posts (if available).

    • Save the schedule.

  2. Choose target accounts

    • In the schedule, select the social profiles/pages you want this schedule to use by default.

  3. Load content into the queue
You have a few options—use any mix:

    • Existing WP content: pick Posts/Pages/Products and add them to the queue.

      • If supported, filter by category/tag/custom taxonomy.

    • Custom posts: write standalone social posts (text + link + image/video) directly in FS Poster and add them to the queue.

    • Re-share evergreen: if your version has a Reposter/Recycle feature, define rules to auto-pull older evergreen posts back into the queue over time.

  4. Customize per-item messages

    • For each queued item, edit the message text, attach a link ({shortlink} applied if enabled), and select images/videos if needed.

    • If allowed, tailor per-network variants (shorten for X/Twitter, add first comment on Instagram, etc.).

  5. Start the schedule

    • Turn the schedule ON.

    • FS Poster now sends the next item at the next eligible time, marching through your queue automatically.

  6. Manage calendar & queue

    • FS Poster → Calendar/Queue to see what’s upcoming.

    • Drag to reorder (if supported), pause, skip, or edit individual items.

    • Refill the queue as needed.

C) One-off manual share (great for “go now” or custom timing)

  1. Go to Posts in WP, hover a post, click FS Poster: Share (or open the post and find the FS Poster panel).

  2. Select the accounts.

  3. Choose Share Now, Schedule for later (pick a date/time), or Add to Queue (to drop into an existing schedule).

  4. Edit the message per network, attach media if needed, and confirm.

D) Useful options & workflows you’ll likely want

  • Hashtag sets / per-network tags
Build hashtag blocks by topic or category and quickly insert into captions (esp. Instagram & LinkedIn).

  • Per-network message rules
Respect character limits; place links on their own line for better previews; some networks prefer image-first.

  • UTM & shorteners
Keep UTM consistent; use short links on networks that truncate long URLs.

  • Bulk share
In Posts list, multi-select items → FS Poster Bulk Share (if available) to push several at once or load them into a schedule.

  • Logs & failure reasons
FS Poster → Logs to confirm deliveries, see API errors (permissions, token expired, rate limits), and retry if supported.

  • Account groups
Group sets of profiles (e.g., “Brand Main” vs “Franchise East”) and select the group in one click when sharing/scheduling.

E) Best-practice tips (smoother scheduling & auto-post)

  • Start small: connect a few accounts, validate formatting, then scale.

  • Images matter: ensure a featured image on posts; many networks favor posts with visuals.

  • Respect network rules: business/creator accounts are required for some networks (e.g., Instagram Business), and API policies change—re-authenticate when tokens expire.

  • Mind frequency: keep a reasonable daily cap to avoid rate limits or spammy cadence.

  • Evergreen list: tag evergreen posts in WordPress and use that tag to feed your maintenance queue.

  • Per-network tweaks: shorter copy for X/Twitter; paragraph-style for LinkedIn; add location/products for GBP where relevant.
